Following the successes of the past month or so, the
Norfolk were confident going into the game against Sussex Police at Brighton,
despite them being a team that in recent years we always seem to struggle
against.
As usual, the Norfolk were quickly out of the blocks and the play was lively
from the off. The Police missed a penalty after 4 minutes and it was not until
the 14th minute when Bavers crashed over for his first of the season. Toby
kicked the conversion wide.
The game was fairly equal for the duration, and both teams looked like they may
score when they had the ball, but it was Sussex Police who were to take the
plaudits for the first half, running in two tries, one on 32 minutes and the
next right on the stroke of half time. One was converted. (12-5 HT)
The Norfolk continued to plug away at the police from the off in the second
half. After 10 minutes, Jez scored from close range, his first in his first
game this season. The conversion was unsuccessful. The Norfolk piled on the
pressure, but it was not happening this week and despite herculean effort, the
polioce ran in another try mid way through the half. It was converted.
The Norfolk threw everything at the police, but were uable to turn the pressure
into points. FINAL SCORE: 19-10
