A very fresh ( bloody freezing!) saturday afternoon saw the Norfolk travel to Bognor for a return to league rugby after just 20 mins played in the last 4 or 5 weeks! Due to this and a poor turnout to the weeks training sessions we started them game very shakily, taking a good 20 mins to switch on and get into the game. Bognor took full advantage of this and put some early points on the board with big ball carriers not being marshalled or brought to ground early. Some fantastic tryline defence denied the home side 2 or 3 more tries with the Norfolk winning turnovers or frustrating Bognor into giving away penalties.

After this period, the synapses finally seemed to start firing and some sensible play combined with more communication and organised defensive play the tide began to turn. Some good scrummaging work gave the backs an effective platform and Bosch and Chemist started breaking through and crossing the gain line. The same could not be said for the lineout which stuttered all day with changes of personnel and lack of concentration, although we managed to compete and frustrate on a few of Bognor's throws. The second half was a lesson in complete rugby as the Norfolk ball carriers began to rampage, support numbers were there at the breakdowns and some great lines being run out wide (if that can be said about the smallest pitch I have ever seen!). Tries came fairly regularly and the extras were the icing on the cake, well done Wilko with 4 from 6 (I think!). The 5 point efforts came from Robbo, who managed to break his shoulder in the process!, Andy W with a Mr. Tickle-like stretch, Mooey with a brace (that's 2 everyone!), Bosch with a Ronseal crash over the line ("It does exactly what it says on the tin"!) and a penalty try for a ridiculous high tackle on Jez with the line beckoning. Special mention goes to Hugo, playing his last game for the Norfolk as he heads home to NZ next week, it's been a pleasure.

Horley at home next week, will be another tough fixture so lots to work on this week at training. Well played across the board
